about

Kyberpoetica is a project which sprang forth from a concept I had for poetry that was to be in the form of stripped down html, the language of the internet. The audio came later and also became integral to the project. Using a blend of First Nations flute and clarsach (celtic harp) I created the backing music to the poetry of Kyberpoetica. "Kyber" is another form of the word "cyber" derived from the Greek word for a helmsman who steers a ship, now applied to all things related to the internet. It is also part of the word "cybernetics" which is the study of control in systems. Many of the first poems I included featured the themes of travel and navigation particularly by astronomical means and the influence of the light from the heavens. The later poems also continued on this theme so I combined what was initially two volumes into one. It seems apt to give this extended set of poems the overall title Kyberpoetica.
